Swimmers make waves at FDU, sweep Devils

MADISON, NJ:  (Nov. 9, 2010) -  [Results] Arcadia Men's & Women's Swimming traveled to MAC rival FDU-Florham Tuesday evening and dominated the Devils to pick up their first respective victories of the season.  Arcadia's women fashioned a 120-49 victory over the hosts while the men's team defeated FDU 92-46 as both teams move to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference action. 

Fourteen personal best were reset by the Knights who won all but one event Tuesday evening.  On the women's side, nine personal best times were set along with ten first place medals, including first place finishes in the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.  Catey Nunnari '13 (Ambler, PA/Gwynedd-Mercy) aced the lengthy 1000 Free (13:13.01) and swam to a personal best in the 500 Free (6:02.49), both first place wins while Jessica Parker '12 (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) swept her two individual events with wins in the 200 Free (2:13.68) and 100 Free (59.43).  Caitlin Culhane '12 (West New York, NJ/High Tech) picked up both a first place win and new personal best in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.58).  Gina Ruppert '11 (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown Area) notched a new personal best time with her first place finish in the 100 Butterfly (1:10.18) while taking second in the 200 Free (2:20.94).  Lindsay Mills '13 (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) earned first in the 50 Free (28.74) and second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:24.95), while Tess Geib '12 (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) shattered her time in the 100 Backstroke, taking first in 37.26.  Geib also added a second place finish in the 50 Free behind Mills (28.87).  Rebecca Wenner 'GR (Oxford, PA/Solanco) placed second in the 100 Backstroke (1:10.35), Kayla Kroll '11 (Middletown, MD/Middletown) was second in the 100 Butterfly (1:13.48), a new personal best, while Alexis Levorse '14 (Parsipanny, NJ/Parsipanny) swam to a second place, personal best time in the 100 Free (1:09.02).  Danielle DiSanto '11 (Sicklersville, NJ/Timber Creek) added another personal best time in her third place finish in the 100 Backstroke (1:12.04) while also taking second in the 200 IM (2:32.77).  Rounding out the Knights top performers were Katie Nagy '14 (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) with a second place finish in the 1000 Free (15:03.49).   

Also taking first in both relay events were Arcadia's men, who added seven first place medals and five personal best times to their record.  Oliver McCormick '13 (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) continues to dominate his competitors, adding two more first place medals to his collection for the year, acing both the 200 Free (1:57.57) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.20).  Aaron Knock (Glenside, PA/Abington) also claimed top honors in both the 50 Free (23.36) and 100 Free (52.59), both personal best times for the junior.  Jason Sharpe '11 (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) won the 100 Fly with a new personal best time (1:00.86) and took second in the 200 Free (1:59.09).  Sean Robinson '14 (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) won the 200 IM (2:24.54) and took second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.20).  Steve Haasis '11 (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) won first in the 100 Backstroke (1:06.33) and took third in the 200 Free (2:14.82) while Peter Hamilton '14 (Blackwood, NJ/Triton) placed second in the 100 Free (1:08.86).  Other top performers for the Knights included Pat Ward '13 (Gloucester City, NJ/Cloucester Catholic) who placed second in the 200 IM (2:25.27), a new personal best time.

Up next for the Knights will be Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Albright College this Saturday at 2 PM in Reading.
