CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 25, 2010) –Arcadia University Women's Soccer scored three goals in a span of 3:14, adding a fourth with one minute remaining in the first half to cruise to their 7th win of the season in today's 4-1 non-conference victory over host DeSales University in Center Valley. The Knights (7-2-1), who remain undefeated in their last eight, received scoring from juniors
Ashley Knueppel (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), Brittany Drosdak (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), and
Stephanie Welch (Port Murray, NJ/Moravian Academy) and senior
Janelle Jablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park).
After a scoreless 21 minutes of first half action, Knueppel made good on a pass from Jablonski to spark the scoring explosion at 21:37 for the 1-0 Arcadia lead. Drosdak quickly added another, unassisted at 22:47 making it a 2-0 Arcadia advantage. The goals were Knueppel's and Drosdak's team leading 4th scores of the season. Drosdak then notched her first assist of the season off a pass to Jablonski, who scored her second goal of the year to cap the Knights three-goal scoring clinic at 24:51. Leading 3-0, Welch tacked on Arcadia's 4th goal, scoring her first of the season with under two minutes to play in the first half.
Sophomore keeper
Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood) was tested three times, stopping two before the Bulldogs got on the board at the 72:52 mark. DeSales senior Amanda Ziegler (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) volleyed in a header pass from junior Laura Wroge (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) off a corner kick feed from junior Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg). Regardless, the sophomore keeper picked up her 6th win of the season for Arcadia.
The Knights had an 11-8 edge in shots and enjoyed a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Arcadia will look to keep the pace going as they host the Aggies of Delaware Valley College on Sept. 29 at 4 PM on The New Field.
