Field Hockey snaps skid; Shuts-out DeSales, 1-0

GLENSIDE, PA:  (Sept. 29, 2010) - Senior Caroline Champi (Laflin, PA/Pittston Area) scored the only goal on the afternoon as the Arcadia University field hockey team earned a 1-0 victory over the visiting Bulldogs of DeSales University. The win snaps a three game losing streak for the Knights, keeping them over .500 and improving to 6-4 overall on the season.

The Knights were back to their attack mode, dominating possession throughout the 70 minutes of play against their visiting opponents. While DeSales had a couple chances early the Arcadia defense held tough, and turned the tables for a 19-4 shot advantage, completely shutting down the Bulldogs chances in the second half for a 6-0 shot advantage. Arcadia also held a 9-3 advantage in corners.

The lone goal of the contest came in the 27th minute when senior Adrianne Altera (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) hit a long ball from the left side into the center which sophomore Marilyn Beatty (Chalfont, PA/North Penn) redirected towards the goal, Champi would recover the rebound in the center front of the goal and bury it in the far right corner. The goal was Champi's third on the season.

Sophomore keeper Marissa Perez (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) saved the only shot she faced.

Arcadia returns to action this Saturday October 2nd when they welcome Commonwealth opponent Shennandoah to Blankley Field for a 1 PM game time start. The Knights will look to use today's momentum to carry into the contest searching for their first ever Commonwealth conference victory.
