#12 Dutchmen hold off Knights 62-48

ANNVILLE, PA:  (Jan. 29, 2011) -  Arcadia University Women's Basketball used a 19-11 run over eight minutes in the second half to close the gap on #12 Lebanon Valley's twenty-point lead, cutting their deficit to ten but could not ignite enough offense to upset the Dutchmen as Lebanon Valley earned today's Commonweawlth Conference victory 62-48.  With the victory, LVC improves to 18-1 overall and 8-0 in league play while the Knights fall to 7-12 and 1-7 against Commonwealth opponents.

Christine Taylor '12, who finished with 11 points for the Knights, drained a game opening three pointer to put Arcadia on the scoreboard first.  Arcadia held a 3-0 lead for the first three minutes of play before the Dutchmen tied it up at 15:54 and Suzie Noyes put LVC on top 5-3, where they would remain for good.  Noyes finished with 12 points for the #12 Dutchmen who earned their program's highest national ranking earlier this week.  

LVC would stretch their lead to twelve at the half, 33-21, and continued to hold command of the game into the second.  Up twenty with 16 minutes to go, LVC saw the Knights enjoy a 19-11 run that featured eight points from Angie Adams '13, two coming off the trey, were Adams went 4 for 9 on the afternoon.  Down just ten, 50-40 with 8:35 to play in the game, Arcadia could not hold down the  Dutchmen who continued to produce points to secure their second victory over the Knights this season. 

LVC out-shot Arcadia 50% - 33% from the field and 91% - 55% from the free throw line.  The Dutchmen also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Arcadia 39-27. 

The Dutchmen were led by four players scoring in double-figures, led by Renee Fritz's 13.  Noyes and Caitlin Bach added 12 but Bach would finish with a double-double with a game high 12 boards.  Lauren Ruhl rounded out LVC top scorer's with 10.  For Arcadia, Adams led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by 12 points and 8 rebounds from Jackie Law '13 and 11 from Taylor. 

Arcadia returns to action this Wednesday at Alvernia University in Commonwealth Conference action. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM.
