Shooting woes plague Knights against Rutgers-Camden

Box Score CAMDEN, NJ:  With two starters out of tonight's lineup, Arcadia University came up short against Rutgers-Camden University at RCU's Raptor Tip-Off Classic by a final score of 85-44.  Senior Christine Taylor (Narvon, PA/Garden Spot) and sophomore Jenna Crothers (Patchogue NY/Patchogue-Medford) led Arcadia with 11 points apiece.

For the second straight outing, Arcadia struggled from the floor, shooting just 23% and 65% from the free throw mark.  RCU shot 47.9% and 92.3% on its free shots and out-rebounded the injury-laded Knights' team 55-35.

The Raptors' Brittany Taylor sparked a 13-4 run to open tonight's game behind 6 straight baskets, and made the spread 13 points at 14:51.  Buckets by Taylor and sophomore Christie Kershaw (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) twice cut Arcadia's deficit to 9 but Raptor's guard Kristina Cox hit for two and nailed a trey in just over a minute's span putting the home team up 14 with 9:08 to play in the opening half.  The Raptors went into halftime up 44-25 after receiving 20 points from their bench and scoring a dozen off Arcadia's turnovers.

Turner finished with 16 for RCU and Michelle Onu added 12 for the victors.  Taylor added 5 rebounds for the Knights.  Crothers pulled down 6, a team high and hit 5 of 6 from the charity stripe.  First year Michaela Holleran (Gilbertsville, PA/Pope John Paul II) scored 10 points and earned 5 rebounds to round out Arcadia's top performers.

Arcadia looks to erase their two-game skid and give head coach Lorie Khalil her first win when the team takes on Rosemont College tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the final game of the Raptors Tip-Off Classic.
