Individual times highlight meet at E'town

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.:   Arcadia University Swimming came up short against host Elizabethtown College in Saturday's Middle Atlantic Conference men's & women's meet.  The men's team lost 119-65 while the women's team was defeated by the Blue Jays 146-58.  The Knights were led by junior Oliver McCormick, sophomore Tara Nuzzo and first year Alex Ganguzza, each earning two individual victories. 

Arcadia's men were led by a pair of swimmers.  Oliver McCormick (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) cleared first placed by nearly 20 seconds ahead of E'town's Andrew Malik in the 1000 Free (11.01.75) and then went on to capture another distance win in the 500 Free (5:22.85). Swimming back to back events, Alex Ganguzza  (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) nailed the 200 IM (2:14.33), a second better than E'town's Shaun Martin before out-pacing Michael Rentschler in the 100 Fly (59.13).  First  year David Battistelli put the pressure on E'town in a pair of individual events, missing first by 1.09 in the 50 Free (24.33) and placing second in the 100 Free (53.46). 

Tara Nuzzo (Mahwah, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) remained ahead of E'town in both the 50 Free (26.10) and 100 Free (57.41) to finish as the women's top performer.  First year Laura Miller (York, PA/Dallastown) took a close second in the 200 Freestyle (2:08.76). 

Arcadia's women remain winless at 0-2 while the men's squad fall back to even at 1-1.

The Knights are looking to scratch the win column, host the season's first home meet this Thursday, Nov. 10, against Middle Atlantic opponent FDU-Florham at 6 p.m. in the Lenox Pool.
