Brown serves up two late treys as Knights defeat Dutchmen 69-67

Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa.:  First year Joe Brown (Philadelphia, PA/LaSalle) drained two shots from long-range within the final 2:36 to help lift Arcadia University Men's Basketball to a 69-67 victory over host Lebanon Valley College in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon.  The win is the second-straight in the league for the Knights who improve to 3-2 overall.

Lebanon Valley drops to 5-1 and 1-1 within the Commonwealth with today's loss.  Brown finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds for Arcadia.

The opening half was all Lebanon Valley for the first 14 minutes, taking a commanding 19 point advantage until the Knights began to find their rhythm.  With six straight points from junior Khalief Trawick (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Learning Center) capped off with a trey from senior Jason Thompson (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.), the Knights were within 8 of LVC's 34-26 lead with five minutes to play until the half.  Arcadia continued to claw their way back in and with a three bomb from senior Colin McCarthy (Langhorne, PA/Holy Ghost) with 1:06 to go, the Knights would go into the half down 4, 39-35.  McCarthy finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds and Trawick scored 13 points to go along with 7 boards.

A jump shot from LVC high scorer Danny Brooks eventually upped the home team's lead back to 9 with three minutes off the clock in the second stanza.  Brooks finished with a game high 20 points and 9 rebounds for the Dutchmen.

Arcadia refused to be rattled.  A three ball-jump shot combination from Trawick ignited the Knights near the 15:00 mark while a pair of charity tosses from sophomore Mike Fitzpatrick (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) at 14:21 put Arcadia within one possession of their first lead since 17:25 of the first half.  That lead came at the hands of sophomore Rashon Brock (Beuna, NJ/Buena), whose theivery against the LVC offense led to another jaw-dropping jam, elevating his way to the rim for a dunk to put Arcadia up 52-51, erasing the Dutchmen's lead that stood for 29 minutes.

The lead would change hands six more times over the final ten minutes.  When LVC went ahead by four (60-56), McCarthy slashed through the paint for two off the glass and Brown netted another jumper to tie the score at 60-all.  LVC hit the back of a one-and-one on the next play.  Thompson threaded a perfect pass to Brown at the top of the key at 2:36 and it was all net for the first year putting Arcadia back on top 63-61.  LVC's Cameron Prince, who finished with 14 points, tied it again at 63-all before first year Aaron Lee-Webb (Norristown, PA/Norristown) converted on a three-point play giving the lead back to Arcadia 66-63.  Lee-Webb led the Knights in scoring with 15 points.

With the score 66-65 Arcadia and with the shot clock ticking down to zero, Brown found himself open on the right side.  He took one step back behind the arc and drained the dagger into the Dutchmen with :15 seconds remaining to give Arcadia their first-ever win over Lebanon Valley in Commonwealth play.

LVC shot 52.3% from the floor, 14.3% from long-range and 64.5% from the line.  Arcadia hit 42.4% from the floor, 33% from three-point range and 75% of their free shots.  Arcadia out-rebounded the Dutchmen 37-34.

Arcadia will go for their third-straight victory hosting the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden University on Monday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Kuch Center.
