GLENSIDE, Pa., Sunday, April 17, 2011-- After Arcadia University battled to win two of three matches in doubles competition, Lebanon Valley College took four of six singles matches on Sunday to escape with a 5-4 win over the Knights in Commonwealth Conference action.
Pulling off a tough 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles was
Bart Blankenship/Kevin Langner over LVC's Ethan Grodzinski/Ryan Weitzel. Similarly, playing No. 3 doubles,
Max Ameil/Marc Ruggia defeated Joel Ramos/Andrew Wilson 8-6. Langner would be tested all afternoon, needing the third set tie-breaker at No. 2 doubles to defeat LVC's Tom Neckelmann 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Ruggia would earn the Knights other win in singles competition, beating LVC's Andrew Wilson 6-4, 5-7, 14-12 in the tie-breaker.
