Messiah, King's swim past Knights in MAC action

GRANTHAM, Pa.:  Messiah College played host to Saturday's Middle Atlantic Conference double-dual with visiting Arcadia University and King's College.

Following a month long lay-off since their last meet, Arcadia's men's and women's teams dropped both of their meets to their MAC opponents.  The men's team lost to the host Falcons 35-81 and 46-69 to Kings while the women's lost to Messiah, 48-73 and King's 54-66.

Arcadia's women captured first place over King's and Messiah in the opening 200 Medley Relay, with Liz Begley, Caitlin Culhane, Kayla Kroll and Samantha Heeren completing the heat in 1:14.82, nearly 10 sconds ahead of second place Messiah.

Whitney Boeckel swam her way to a first place time in the 100 Backstroke (1:03.67) and Heeren outlasted King's for first place in the 100 Freestyle (31.68).  The Knights added another gold in the closing 200 Freestyle Relay with Tess Geib, Boeckel, Heeren and Lindsay Mills teaming up for the nailbiting victory (1:55.32) over second place King's (1:56.12).

Alex Ganguzza acheived the lone first place victory (58.07) for Arcadia's men when he out-swam Messiah's Zachary Krueger (1:00.91) in the 100 Butterfly.  Ganguzza also placed second in the 100 Backstroke (1:02.34) and David Battistelli took second in the 50 Freestyle (24.12).

The Knights look ahead to their next Middle Atlantic Conference meet against Lycoming this Saturday, a 2 p.m. start time at Arcadia University's Lenox Pool.
