Box Score Glenside, Pa (October 13, 2012): The Arcadia University Knights (10-4, 3-3 CC) dropped their second consecutive conference match today, 2-1 to the nationally ranked Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (11-3, 4-1 CC). Arcadia fought to cut the 2-0 deficit in half by the end of the first but E-town was able to hold off the Knights in the second half to take the victory.
Jennie Kamel scored the Knights' lone goal of the day. The Knights return to action on Tuesday (10/16) as they travel to Lebanon Valley for another Commonwealth conference battle (4pm).
The visiting Blue Jays proved why they are ranked 18
th in the country with two quick goals from seniors Casey Fletcher and Nadine Yunginger to take an early 2-0 lead. Nevertheless, AU kept chipping away at Elizabethtown until freshman standout
Jennie Kamel was able to find the net with an impressive unassisted goal. The goal cut the lead in half as the Knights went into the intermission down 2-1.
Elizabethtown was once again the aggressor in the second half but Arcadia's bend but don't break defense was able to keep the Blue Jays off the scoreboard. After a rough start, first year goalkeeper
Mia De Plato settled down in net making some key saves for the Knights. DePlato got some help from first year defenseman, Taylor Dasilera who made two great defensive saves to give Arcadia a chance at the comeback.
The game would come down to the final seconds when senior Lynn Beatty forced a corner for the Knights. Every seat in the newly renovated Easton Field was empty as each and every fan rose to their feet to see if AU could push the game into overtime. Despite the effort, Arcadia was unable to convert the corner into a goal.
The national power Elizabethtown College would escape with the win but one thing is for sure the Knights of Arcadia University proved to be a real player in the Commonwealth Conference.
