Softball Finishes 7-1 at NCSI

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.:  Arcadia Softball finished their short stint at the National Collegiate Softball Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with a 7-1 record after splitting thier final day with a 6-7 loss to Division II Clarion and a 12-2 victory over Principia. 

The Knights improve to 7-5 overall, returning to Glenside to prepare for a road doubleheader at neighboring Penn State Abington on Monday.

Monday, March 12
Arcadia 10, Principia 2
Arcadia 1, Concord 0

On Monday, the Knights knocked off Principia 10-2 and Concord 1-0 behind a singular pitching performance from Jess Wood who finished both complete games.  The Knight's 10-2 win over Principia was called following the 6th inning due to the 8-run rule. 

Meanwhile, Brandee Zablotsky slammed a home run to help Arcadia to their one-run win over Concord in the nightcap.

Tuesday, March 13
Arcadia 1, Eureka 0
Arcadia 7, Suffolk 1

On Tuesday, Wood registered another complete game win when the Knights defeated Eureka 1-0. Zablotsky went 2 for 3 against Eureka and Lindsey Henchinski 1 for 2, scoring the only run of the contest. 

Arcadia also took on Suffolk University on Tuesday, a game featured on the NCSI webcast, and won it 7-1, remaining undefeated at the invitational following an 0-4 start over the weekend.  Against Suffolk, Jess Campbell went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 runs scored and an RBI. That performance was matched by Leanda Helms' 2 for 3 day with a double and 2 runs scored while Erin Wojcieszyn went 2 for 2 with one batted in.  Pitcher Kelsey Roberts made her first start, and worked five innings for the win over Suffolk.

Wednesday, March 14
Arcadia 10, Clarion 9(10 inn)
Arcadia 8, Principia 0

The Knights needed extra innings to thwart off Division II Clarion.  Entering in relief for starter Kelsey Roberts, Heather Buriak went on to earn the win for the Knights.

Jess Wood registered her fourth complete game win and second in shutout fasion in the team's 8-0 blanking of Principia.

Thursday, March 15
Arcadia 6, Clarion 7 (7 inn.)
Arcadia 12, Principia 2

The Knights just missed a sweep of Division II opponent Clarion.  Clarion scored the game-tyiong and game winning run in the bottom of the 7th.  Kelsey Roberts took the loss after entering in relief of Jess Woods and Heather Buriak.

Roberts found redemption in the night cap, earning a 12-2 win in five innings to complete the sweep of Principia.  Brandee Zablotsky blasted a home run in the Knight's victory.
