Knights Knock off Bryn Mawr, Win Season's First

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University scored eight unanswered goals, jumping out to an 8-1 halftime lead en-route to a 15-7 non-conference victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College Tuesday afternoon at Easton Field.  First year Haylee Molloy led all scorer's with 7 points on 5 goals and 2 assists helping the Knights to their first win of the season.

The Knights (1-2 overall) out-shot the visiting Owls (1-3 overall) 34-25.  Bryn Mawr received five goals from leading scorer Kathleen Magner, who earned 6 of the Owls game high in draw controls.  The Owls dominated the draw all afternoon, controlling 16 to Arcadia's 6 but the Knights moved the ball with ease from defense to offense, notching 13 good clears on 15 attempts while capturing 37 ground balls, both game highs.

The Knights held the Owls scoreless until Natalie Chismer notched the lone free position goal of the day with 1:05 remaining in the first half. The Owls made a dent on the visitors scoreboard in the second stanza, when Magner erupted for five straight but the Knights had already built up a comfortable buffer to finish with a season high 15 goals. Senior keeper Kate Flaming made 11 saves in the loss for the Owls.

Senior Amalie Kreitman improves her early season record to 1-2 with today's win, making 10 saves with 3 goals against in 45 minutes of action.  Junior Deanna Thompson registered 2 saves with 3 goals against in 11 minutes and junior Sarah Baumgardner was credited with 1 goal against in the final 3 minutes.

In addition to Molloy (also registering 5 GB), three other Knights finished with multi-point games, including Meghan Fallon.  The junior scored 4 times, opening and closing the first half scoring for Arcadia and picked up 5 ground balls. Sophomore Katie Bauer scored twice and led the team with 6 ground balls while sophomore Jenna Crothers finished with 3 points on 2 goals and an assist. First year Jaclyn Feffer scored once and added 2 assists (3 pts.) and sophomore Kaitlin Barry finished with a goal and an assist (2 pts.).

The Knights move on to face Penn State Abington on the road in non-conference play this Thursday at 4 p.m. before traveling to Mahattanville College for Saturday's Freedom Conference season opener in Purchase, NY
