Fallon Nets Career Goal 100 in Loss at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y.:  Arcadia University opened up Freedom Conference play this afternoon on the road at Mahattanville College, the two teams selected as pre-season favorites for the league's top four playoff spots in early May.  After an evenly played contest from a statistical standpoint, the host Valiants had their way with the Arcadia's goalkeepers in the second half and outscored the Knights 11-2 en-route to a 22-12 win.

Highlighting the afternoon was junior Meghan Fallon finishing off her five goal outing with her 100th collegiate career goal. Fallon ended the afternoon with 6 pts (5G, 1A) to lead the Knights.  The third-year starter has provided the team with a steady scoring presence since her freshman campaign.  She entered the current season with 111 points on 82 goals and 28 assists.  Already with 18 goals (24 pts.) this season, Fallon is on pace to set a new program scoring mark (currently at 157 goals) with more than a season and a half remaining.

The Knights will have a four game hiatus from conference play before trying to even their league record when they take on King's College on the road on April 5.  Up next for Arcadia is Lancaster Bible at home on March 27.

Fallon opened the scoring and after the Valiants went ahead 3-1, the Knights marched back with sophomore Jenna Crothers netting the game tying (3-3) goal off a nifty pass from sophomore Katie Bauer score ten minutes into play.

Fallon scored unassisted and added a free-position tally to lift Arcadia to a short-lived 5-3 advantage as the home team struck for three straight and a 6-5 lead.  At 14:25 first year Haylee Molly tied the score at 6-all and the rest of the half was a back and forth battle with the Valiants eventually taking an 11-10 lead into the half.

Arcadia could not solve Manhattanville's Cassandra Honovich, who finished with 10 pts. (8G, 2A), scoring 4 ogoals and dishing out one in the second half. The Knights (2-3 overall, 0-1 Freedom) second half scores came from Bauer (1G, 1A) and Crothers (2G, 1A).  Molloy added 4pts. (2G, 2A).

Starting keeper junior De Thompson took the loss for Arcadia.  Thompson played the first 15 minutes with 15 goals against and 4 saves.  Senior Amalie Kreitman played 23 minutes in goal with 7 goals against and 4 saves.

Shots were 35-33 in favor of Arcadia, ground balls 24-22 and draws 22-14 both in favor of the Valiants.  Manhattanville (2-6, 1-0 Freedom) committed 25 turnovers to the Knights 19.  Six yellow cards were handed out this afternoon, five for the Valiants and one for Arcadia.

Game time for Tuesday's non-conference game against the Chargers at Easton Field is set for 4 p.m.
