Women's Lacrosse Clashes with Kean on the Road

UNION, NJ (April 21, 2012) - Arcadia University Women's Lacrosse traveled to Kean University Saturday afternoon for a game out-of-conference.  After the Knights remained on their host's heels in the first half, the Cougars, leading 12-5 to start the second half of play,  climbed further ahead on the scoreboard and snapped Arcadia's win-streak at three games handing the Knights a 23-10 setback.

Haylee Molloy '15 paced the Knights with 5 goals, falling just one shy of her 60th career tally.  Jenna Crothers '14 provided 3 goals, Katie Bauer '13 a goal and the Knight's only 2 assist on the day while Kaitlin Barry '13 also added a tally.

Kean jumped out to a three goal advantage in the opening minutes but had to deal with the Knights, and Molloy who put in Arcadia's first two scores.  Facing a 4-2 deficit, the Knights saw Kean light the lamp for four straight to take an 8-2 lead.  A goal from Crothers made it 8-3 Kean but the hosts rallied for three unanswered and an 11-3 advantage.

Molloy followed a team timeout with her third and fourth scores of the contest but Kean scored one in between and took a 12-5 lead into the break.

By the 23 minute mark of the second half, the shad themselves a running clock, and despite Arcadia's relentless effort to steady their way back into the game, they could only hang around a ten goal deficit.

Kean unleashed a game-high 39 shots to Arcadia's 23 and got balanced scoring from Lindsay Cannon (8G, 1A, 9pts), Stephanie Tocko (5G, 3A, 8pts) and Julie Knodt (5G, 2A, 7pts).  Where Arcadia was dominant was off the draw control. Jaclyn Feffer '15 nabbed herself 15 of the Knight's 20 draws, while allowing Kean 15.  Turnovers were costly for the Knights as the team made 17, 15 which were caused by the Cougars (9-6 overall).

De Thompson '13 (3-4) got the start in the cage for the Knights and made 9 saves through the first 38 minutes.  Amalie Kreitman '12 played the final 22 minutes and made 1 save.

Arcadia (7-8 overall, 1-3 FC) gets back to their Freedom Conference schedule on April 24 in a must-win game against the Eagles of Eastern University.
