Box Score Glenside, PA (September 29, 2012): Field Hockey wins their sixth consecutive game with a Commonwealth conference victory over visiting Stevenson University. With the win, the Knights improve to 8-1 overall, a perfect 8-0 at home and a perfect 2-0 in the conference. The Mustangs drop to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference following today's loss.
Arcadia's dynamic duo of Lynn Beatty and
Jennie Kamel was in full effect today as both scored within the initial ten minutes of the game to give AU the 2-0 lead. After the early fireworks, both offenses went silent for the remainder of the half as the Knights would end up taking the 2-0 lead into the intermission.
The start of the second half was much like the end of the first half as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Neverthless, the momentum was beginning to turn in Stevenson's favor as the Mustangs became the aggressor. Finally, the Mustangs were able to get on the scoreboard with a goal from Ariella Hopp with 13:20 left in regualtion.
Just as the crowd suspected a potential comeback for Stevenson, the tandem of Beatty and Kamel struck again to ice the game for the Knights. This time it was Kamel with the goal from a Beatty assist. Kamel finished with two goals while Beatty finished with one goal and two assists.
Freshman goalie
Mia De Plato started in net for the Knights for the second consecutive game and earned her fourth win of the season. DePlato had six saves on the day while defensemen
Hannah Christensen and
Taylor Dalisera added impressive defensive saves of their own to help preserve the 3-1 victory for AU. For Stevenson, first year Katie Cavanaugh finished with two saves in the loss.
The Knights look to extend their win streak on Tuesday (10/2) as they travel to Reading, PA to face off with another conference opponent in Alvernia University at 4 PM.
