Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa . – Junior
Katrina Dull (Coppersburg, Pa.) scored her second goal of the game just 54 seconds into overtime to give the Arcadia University field hockey team a 3-2 non-conference victory over visiting William Paterson University Saturday afternoon at Easton Field.
The Knights improved to 12-5 for the season with the win, while the Pioneers fell to 9-8 with the loss.
Dull got Arcadia on the board in the 30th minute off a penalty corner for her sixth goal of the season. She started the play and then put home a pass from senior
Ashley Ditchey (Nicholson, Pa.) from the left side of the cage. Sophomore
Debbie Wolfe (West Milford, N.J.) also assisted on the play.
Senior Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J.) tied the game 2:34 into the second half when she tipped in a shot freshman Courtney Allen (Woodbine, N.J.), but sophomore
Taylor Dalisera (Millersville, Md.) quickly answered for Arcadia when her blast from the top of the scoring area 3:11 later gave the Knights a 2-1 lead. The goal was her ninth of the year.
William Paterson came back and tied the game again in the 50th-minute when sophomore Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J.) deflected a shot pass from junior Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J.) into the cage. Arcadia had multiple chances to win the match in regulation, including being awarded a penalty stroke with 1:23 left in the second half, but was unable to put the ball in.
The Knights put the pressure on right away to start the overtime period and were awarded a penalty corner just 30 seconds in. Dalisera's shot was stopped with a defensive save from Chelf and the rebound went to junior
Molly Goldstein, who fed the ball to Dull for the game-winner.
Freshman goalkeeper
Brittany Hodson (Highesville, Md.) registered five saves for the Knights as her record improved to 12-5 for the season. Senior Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J.) fell to 9-8 after recording six saves for the Pioneers.
Arcadia outshot William Paterson 21-13 in the match, while penalty corners were even at 13 each.
The Knights will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Albright College for a 6 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match.
