Box Score 2 Owings Mills, MD (April 13, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (12-14, 5-6 MCOM) split a doubleheader at the Stevenson University Mustangs (12-14, 5-6) this afternoon. The Mustangs took game one, 6-2, but the Knights bounced back to take the second game, 9-1.
Marissa Perez had four hits, a run scored and two RBI in the twin bill.
In game one, Arcadia struck first as
Brandee Zablotsky hit an RBI double in the first inning. Stevenson tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and took the lead with a run in the third and two in the fourth. Arcadia make it 4-2, scoring a run in the sixth on an RBI single by
Jessica Wood, but the Mustangs tacked on two in the bottom of the inning and came away with the 6-2 win.
Perez was 2-4 with a run scored. Wood took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned on nine hits and struck out two.
In the second game, Arcadia again scored in the first as
Leanda Helms hit an RBI single, Wood scored on an error and
Heather Buriak helped herself with an RBI single. Then in the third, Helms blew the game open with a three-run homer to give the Knights a 6-0 lead. Stevenson got one back in the fourth, but in the fifth, Helms hit an RBI single and Perez hit a two run single to make it 9-1. Stevenson failed to score in the bottom of the fifth and the game ended after five.
Helms was 3-3 with three runs scored and five RBI in game two. Wood was 3-3 with three runs scored and Perez was 2-3 with two RBI. Buriak got the win, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on three hits. She was also 1-2 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Arcadia returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Wesley College for a 3:30pm first-pitch on Blankley Field.
