Women's Lacrosse Clinches First Playoff Berth Since 1999 and Home Field Advantage With Win Over Eastern

Box Score Glenside, PA (April 23, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (11-4, 4-1 MFRE) clinched their first playoff berth since 1999 tonight with a 19-10 win over the Eastern University Eagles (1-13, 1-4). The Knights also clinched home field advantage in the semifinals and will host the game on Tuesday at a time to be determined on Easton Field. Arcadia led 11-4 at the break and never led by less than seven goals in the second half. The Knights last playoff appearance was when the school was named Beaver College and competed in the PAC which is not the CSAC.

Arcadia jumped on the board quickly as Haylee Molloy scored a free position goal at 29:30. Eastern then scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. Jaclyn Feffer tied the match with a goal at 25:21 assisted by Dawn Faranetta. Molloy then made it 3-2 at 24:53. Feffer then scored twice to make it 5-2 at the 22:58 mark. Katie Bauer made it 6-2 at the 20:01 mark, scoring off a Jenna Crothers assist.

Eastern scored to make it 6-3. Arcadia then scored three straight as Fallon scored and Dawn Faranetta scored twice for a 9-3 lead at 14:31. The Eagles scored to make 9-4, but Faranetta scored at 4:34 to give the Knights a 10-4 lead. Crothers scored the final goal of the half with just four seconds left and the match went into the break 11-4.

Bauer started the scoring in the second half from Crothers at 28:53. Eastern scored to make it 12-5, but Catherine Brown scored from Fallon to make it 13-5. The Eagles made it 13-6, but Fallon, Molloy and Faranetta each scored to make it 16-6. Eastern scored twice to make it 16-8, but Crothers scored at 10:56 to get it to 17-8. Fallon scored her third at 6:09 to give the Knights a 18-8 advantage. Eastern made it 18-9, but Johanna Castiblanco scored at 3:10 for a 19-9 lead. The Eagles scored at 1:57 to make the final 19-10.

Faranetta scored four times and had one assist. Feffer, Molloy and Fallon each scored three times and Fallon also had an assist. Jordyn Dunacusky made 12 saves for the Knights.

Arcadia will return to action on Thursday night for their home finale and final non-conference match of the season as they host Rosemont for a 7pm match on Easton Field.
