GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 non-conference victory over visiting Penn State Abington Saturday afternoon at Weiss Courts, improving the Knights' record to 2-0 this season. The Nittany Lions fell to 1-2 for the season with the loss.
 
Junior Kaila Gaughan (Millville, N.J.) and freshman Allyson Naiken (Ringoes, N.J.) posted an 8-2 win over  sophomore Sheena Phillip (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman Honora Hegarty (Abington, Pa.) at first doubles, while junior Viola Sawyer (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and freshman Justine Sawyer (Glen Cove, N.Y.) posted an 8-0 win at second doubles over senior Olya Popili (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman Janie Saile (Huntington Valley, Pa.).
 
Senior Danielle Riggins (Dorchester, N.J.) and freshman Zoe Palmer (Rockville, Md.) were 8-4 winners over freshmen Emily Jusseaume (Paris, France) and Y Nhi Nguyen (Philadelphia, Pa.) at third doubles.
 
Gaughan went on to defeat Hegarty 6-3, 6-4 at first-singles, while Naiken was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Popili at second-singles. Viola Sawyer downed Philip 6-1, 6-2 at third singles and Justine Sawyer knocked off Jusseaume 6-1, 6-0 at fourth-singles.
 
Sophomore Alexandria Broome (South Euclid, Ohio) won 6-0, 6-0 against Nguyen at No. 5 singles, and Riggins rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over freshman Honestee Sphabmixay (Philadelphia, Pa.), who is the niece of Arcadia head coach Lak Sphabmixay '99.
 
The Knights will next travel to Cabrini College Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match.
