GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team improved to 2-1 for the season after recording a 6-3 victory over Alvernia University Saturday afternoon at Weiss Courts. The Crusaders fell to 1-3 with the loss.
 
Senior Marc Ruggia (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) and sophomore Vincent Voulo (Kunkletown, Pa.) teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over sophomores Ben Daubenspeck (Reading, Pa.) and Aaron Yuros (Pottstown, Pa.), while sophomore Darren Stochmal (Millville, N.J.) and freshman Charles Poklikuha (West Creek, Pa.) teamed for an 8-3 win over senior Sean Boyd (Churchville, Pa.) and sophomore Kyle Clark (Red Bank, N.J.) at No. 3 doubles, giving Arcadia a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

Alexander Colton was a 4-6, 7-5, 10-2 winner over Yuros at No. 3 singles, while Ruggia did not surrender a single point on his way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles against sophomore Jacob Conapitski (Lebanon, Pa.). Stochmal was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Daubenspeck at fifth singles, and Poklikuha ended the match with a 6-3, 6-0 sixth-singles win over freshman Colin MacCloskey.

Arcadia will next travel to Cabrini College October 9 for its final dual match of the fall season.
