Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa.- Four players scored in double figure to lead the Arcadia University men's basketball team over Rosemont College 78-61 on Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights improved to 6-4 with the win, while the Ravens fell to 3-6 with the loss.
Freshman guard
Sean Mayberry led all scorers, finishing with 17 points, 16 of which came in the second half; Mayberry also finished with six rebounds. Senior forward
Joe Brown had 16 points and nine rebounds, while senior forward/center
Jose Figueroa added 14 points, 12 of which came in the second half, and four rebounds. Mayberry and Figueroa both finished the night a perfect 6 for 6 from the field. Senior guard
Torrell Candelaria rounded out the double-figure scorers, adding 10 points. Junior guard
John Landro finished with five points, five rebounds, and seven assists.
Rosemont was led by junior guard Marcus Thomas' 13 points and sophomore forward Khai Roberts added 11 points. Senior guard Nadir Stukes contributed five points, four rebounds, and six assists, while senior forward Dom Scafidi chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.
Arcadia started the game on 6-0 run, and never relinquished the lead. The Knights had their biggest lead of the game at 18 when Mayberry converted the free throw following a made layup as he was fouled, giving Arcadia a 76-59 advantage with 3:09 left in the second half.
Arcadia had a 52-28 advantage on points in the paint, a 24-15 edge in points off of turnovers, and an 18-4 lead on points scored on the fast-break. The Knights shot an outstanding 61 percent (30-49) from the field while holding the Ravens to 41 percent (24-59) shooting from the floor.
Arcadia will now enter a holiday layoff, and will return to action January 3rd when it travels to Lebanon Valley College for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference tip-off. The Knights return home on January 10th when they host Lycoming College for a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.Â
