Addy Crenny registered a double-double with game-high totals of 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Arcadia University women's basketball team to an 85-66 victory over Commonwealth Conference rival Alvernia University on Wednesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with their fifth straight win, while the Crusaders record dropped 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Maureen Fiocca also poured in 20 points for Arcadia, while senior guard/forward
Megan Fox fell just short of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Junior guard Dominique Hassinger dished out a game-high 13 assists while filling out the score sheet with two points, five rebounds and four steals.

Junior guard Stevie Fortuna scored a team-leading 17 points coming off the bench for Alvernia, while sophomore center Tyra Roberts posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Logan Focht and freshman guard Olivia Andrefski added eight points each.

The Knights never trailed in the game as Fox opened the contest with a layup that started a 17-4 run over the opening seven minutes that was capped off by a layup that was capped off by a layup from Crenny. The Crusaders then used a 10-2 burst to pull back within four following a made free throw by senior guard Kaitlyn Yoh that made it 19-15 with 9:14 left in the opening frame.

It was a five point-game after junior guard Chelsea Ebersole knocked down a three to make it 28-23 with five and a half minutes left in the first half, but junior forward
Rachel Jacob answered with a layup at the other end for the Knights, starting a 13-5 run for Arcadia to close the half with a 41-28 lead.

Sophomore guard
Imani Alston capped off a 10-2 run for the Knights to start the second half that pushed their lead to 21, and Arcadia led by as many as 24 later in the frame after another Crenny layup gave the Knights a 69-45 lead midway through the period.

Arcadia shot 46 percent (32-70) from the field while holding the Crusaders to just 34 percent (21-62) shooting from the floor. The Knights enjoyed a 40-16 advantage in points in the paint and scored 26 points off 18 Alvernia turnovers. The Crusaders managed just eight points off 11 Arcadia miscues.

The Knights will look to extend their winning streak to six games Saturday when they host a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match-up against Stevenson University at Alumni Gymnasium.Â
