Women’s Basketball Drops 66-51 Commonwealth Contest to Lebanon Valley

Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore forward Valerie DiMuro (Tappan, N.Y.) scored a game-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field but it was not enough as the Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 66-51 Commonwealth Conference contest to visiting Lebanon Valley College Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
 
The Dutchmen improved to 19-5 overall and 13-4 in Commonwealth Conference play, while the Knights fell to 10-14 overall and 4-13 in conference games.
 
Lebanon Valley had four players score in double-figures, with junior guard Kiely Chaklos (Frackville, Pa.) leading the way with 14 points. Sophomore guard Taylor Umbrell (Delran, N.J.) netted 13 points while going 5-for-8 from the field and pulling down six rebounds, while senior forward Caitlin Bach (Manchester, Md.) posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Sophomore guard Alyssa Cirucci (Marlton, N.J.) also scored in double digits with 10 points.
 
Sophomore guard Samantha Caligiuri (West Grove, Pa.) added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor for Arcadia, while fellow sophomore guard Dominique Hassinger (Franklinville, N.J.) added 10 points with three rebounds and two assists.
 
The Dutchmen shot 40 percent (26-49) from the field and were 12-of-14 at the free throw line, while the Knights shot just 32 percent (20-53) from the floor and were 9-of-18 at the stripe.
 
Lebanon Valley led for all but a few seconds in the game, opening the contest with a 9-2 run over the first 3:13 of the game. The Dutchmen took a 27-22 lead into the locker room at the half and would use a 12-2 run in the middle of the second half to open a 50-36 advantage with seven minutes remaining in the game.
 
Arcadia will close out the 2013-14 season Saturday when it hosts Widener University at 1 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium. Senior guard/forward Victoria Mazzeo (Langhorne, Pa.) will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the game.
