Two second half goals lift Wilkes past women’s soccer team, 3-2

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team surrendered a pair of second half goals as it dropped a 3-2 non-conference match to visiting Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Colonels improved to 5-4-0 with the win, while the Knights fell to 6-2-0 overall and saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.

Arcadia led 2-1 at the half on goals from senior forward/midfielder Kim Canfield and junior forward Jackie Glanfield, but were unable to hold on to that advantage in the second half.

Freshman forward Micaela Oliverio tied the match just 29 seconds into the second half, and freshman back Shelby Trumbo scored the game-winner at exactly 51 minutes for the 3-2 final. It was the second goal of the game for Trumbo, who scored on a breakaway 5:54 into the contest.

Arcadia had several opportunities to tie the match and out-possessed Wilkes in the later stages of the game, but were unable to pull even before the final horn sounded.

Junior keeper Lisa Semetti had seven saves in registering the win in net for the Colonels, improving her record to 3-2-0 for the season. Senior keeper Veronica Willig had three saves in taking the loss for the Knights, dropping her record to 5-2-0.

Wilkes outshot Arcadia 14-12 in the match and had an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Knights will be back in action Tuesday night when they host a non-conference match against Delaware Valley College at 7 p.m.
