Women’s Volleyball Swept at Home by Washington College

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior Makenna Micklus tallied a match-high 11 kills, but it was not enough as the Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference match to visiting Washington College (Md.) Thursday night at Alumni Gymnasium. The Shorewomen improved to 14-7 with their third straight win, while the Knights fell to 9-11 with their second straight loss.

Washington used a six-point run midway through the first game to open a 14-7 lead on its way to a 25-20 win, and got off to an 11-3 start in the second before hanging on for a 25-19 final. Arcadia used a six-point run midway through the second game to even the score at 16 before the Shorewomen used a 7-1 run to close the game and go up 2-0 in the match.

The two teams exchanged runs through the third game, which saw Arcadia pull within 20-17 following a kill from Micklus, but Washington took over from there, closing the match with a five-point surge to close out the win.

Kristin Lee led the Shorewomen with 10 kills and eight digs, while Kailyn Marino hit .320 with eight kills on 25 attempts. Taylor Horan handed out 28 assists with 11 digs.
