Knights Hold On for Third Straight Win, Take 75-72 Decision at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team closed out the fall semester by holding on to take down Immaculata 75-72. Junior Ryan Kelley led the Knights with 17 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Arcadia moves to 8-2 on the season, while the Might Mas fall to 2-5.

It would be the hosts that got off to a fast start as Roy Ferrell, Jr. knocked down a pair of threes to open the game's scoring. Josh Scott tallied the Knights' first points on a jumper just under four minutes into the contest. The Mighty Macs opened the game on  a 13-6 run before John Landro pulled Arcadia within four with a three-pointer off an assists from Alex Cohen with 13:18 to go in the half. The four point differential would be the closest the Knights would get, though they did so on multiple occasions, including off a layup from Tom Feraco with 41 seconds left to go until the break. Immaculata's Rodney Duncan, however answered with a three with 12 ticks left to send the game to the half at 36-29 in favor of the hosts.

Landro led the Knights with six points in the opening stanza, followed by Kelley with five. As a team, the Scarlet and Grey shot 39.3% from the field. Shooting 4 of 7 from the field, Ferrell, Jr. led all scorers with 10 points at the break for a Mighty Mac team that shot 42.9% in the opening 20 minutes.

The Knights came out fighting in the second half, as the Scarlet and Grey scored eight of the half's first 10 points. Phil Pierfy laid in two points on the half's first possession before classmate Evan Slone did the same to pull the Knights with in one at 38-37 just over four and a half minutes into the frame.

Kelley tied the game at 41 following a pair of free throws at the 14:02 mark before giving the team its first lead of the day at 43-41 with a layup on the Knights' next possession. The Mighty Macs responded with a 7-0 spurt to regain the lead at 48-43 with 12:08 left in the half.

A fast break layup from Jordan Sanders pulled the Knights back within one at 55-54 in the midst of a 8-0 run that saw Arcadia take a 58-55 lead courtesy of an Evan Slone layup with 7:23 to go in the game.

Never trailing the rest of the way, Landro put the Knights up by 10 with a three for a 72-62 lead with 2:36 left. Immaculata closed the game on a 10-2 run, but it wouldn't be enough as Kelley converted a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to seal the victory.\
The Knights were highly effective from the floor shooting 69.6% from the field, led by a 5-5 effort from Slone. It would be Kelley who led the Knights in points with 12 on 3 of 4 shooting.

The Knights take some time off for the holidays before returning to the court on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 to take on Hood in a MAC Commonwealth showdown, tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
