GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team opened MAC Commonwealth play Wednesday night as they fell 72-44 to Lebanon Valley.
The Dutchmen jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter the game's first five points before
Valerie DiMuro laid in the Knights first two points just under three minutes in. The 5-2 deficit would be the closest Arcadia would be the remainder of the contest as Lebanon Valley used a 21-7 first quarter to spark their win.
The Knights trailed 36-19 at halftime. The Scarlet and Grey shot just 22.6% from the field in the opening 20 minute with
Addy Crenny leading the way in scoring with seven points on 3 of 6 shooting; she also recorded a pair of steals. DiMuro and
Camille Menns, who made her first career start, each pulled in two rebounds in the half. The Dutchmen used an efficient 50% shooting performance that included going 5 of 9 from the three point land to spring the lead.
The Knights shot better in the second half going converting 30.3% of their field goal attempts.
Irelynn Donovan led the way with eight points in the half going 2 of 3 from distance and knocking down a pair of free throws. DiMuro grabbed four rebounds in the half. Defensively, Arcadia held the Dutchmen to 44% shooting and just 33.3% from three. Kiely Chaklos led Lebanon Valley in scoring with eight points on 4 of 6 shooting.
A dozen points from
Addy Crenny served as the team-high, followed by Donovan's eight and
Sammy Downham's seven. DiMuro recorded a game-high 10 boards. As a team, the Knights shot 26.6% on the night, including 23.5% from beyond the arc. Lebanon Valley saw four players record double-figures led by Taylor Umbrell's 16 on 5 of 6 shooting. Kiely Chaklos notched a doze,n Bridget Rothert added 11 and Lexie Lantz contributed 10.
The Knights look to rebound on Saturday when they host Messiah at 1 p.m.
