Women’s Lacrosse Hangs On for 11-10 Victory over Albright

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team led by as many as six in the early stages of the second half before hanging in for an 11-10 Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright College Wednesday night at Easton Field. The Knights improved to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Lions fell to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in league action.

Junior Dawn Faranetta opened the scoring just 1:09 into the game to start a five-goal run that put Arcadia out in front for good in the game. Classmate Adeline Bellesheim scored each of her game-high four goals in the first half, raising her team-leading total to a career-high 30 so far this season.

The Knights led 9-3 following the first of two goals for sophomore Erin Misner 3:38 into the second half, but a 4-1 surge by Albright got the Lions back into the game at 10-7 with 13 minutes remaining in the game.

Freshman Nicole Hutson scored her only goal of the game with nine minutes to go, beating her older sister, Albright junior Emily Hutson, for her 20th goal of the year. That goal proved to be the difference as the Lions closed the game with a three-goal run, pulling within one on sophomore Danielle Carey's third goal of the game with 1:11 remaining on the clock.

Junior Erin Farrell got the draw control following Carey's goal, but senior Dana Roessler dislodged the ball from senior Meghan Wilson and Nicole Hutson picked up the ground ball for the Knights, who were then able to clear the ball and run out the clock to secure the win.

Junior Jordyn Dunacusky totaled 10 saves in the win for Arcadia, raising her record to 8-2 for the season. Emily Hutson had five saves in taking the loss for Albright, dropping her record to 7-4.

The Knights will be off until next Wednesday when they host a Commonwealth Conference contest against Lebanon Valley College.
