WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team fell at top-seeded Wilkes University Tuesday by a score of 5-0 in the semifinal round of the 2015 Freedom Conference Championship Tournament. The Colonels advance to take on second-seeded King's College in Saturday's title match.
Wilkes (18-2) took all three doubles matches to open a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. Brendon Blachowski and Steven Wilson defeated Arcadia's team of junior
Alex Colton and sophomore
Chuck Poklikuha 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, which was the closest contested of the three doubles bouts.
The Colonels needed just two more points to close out the win, and got just that as Michael Kranz beat sophomore
Wesley Wei 6-0, 6-0 and No. 3 singles and Adam Lefkandinos downed sophomore
Ricardo Margolles 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. the remaining singles matches went unfinished once the outcome was determined.
Arcadia finished the season with an overall record of 7-6 after getting back to the posted season for the first time in three years under first-year head coach
Shawn Hyden.
