WESTMINSTER, Md. – The fourth-seeded Arcadia University baseball team dropped a 10-0 decision to top-seeded and host McDaniel College Saturday in the semifinal round of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference Southeast Championship Tournament Saturday. The Knights finished the season at 20-15-1.
Two Green Terror (19-14) pitchers combined on the shutout. Junior Zach Kronick fanned nine batters while scattering four hits over his six innings of work to get the win on the hill. Michael Casper allowed two hits while recoridign two strikeouts over the final two innings of the game.
McDaniel jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as junior Marty Winsisch drove a single up the middle to score classmate Sean Sivo with the first run of the game and then scored on fellow junior Cameron Bahr's double to gap in left center.
That advantage grew to 6-0 in the bottom of the third, with two runs scoring on senior Nick Valori's single through the left side of the infield to open the scoring in the frame. Another run came home on senior Brandon Hayward's infield single, and an error on that same play allowed Valori to come home from second.
The game ended in the bottom of the eight when the Green Terror scored three times to invoke the ECAC's 10-run mercy rule. Windisch drove in Sivo with the game-winning run after sending a triple to straight away center field to give McDaniel the walk-off win.
