CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team suffered a conference setback Wednesday night with a 69-58 loss at Widener. The Knights were led by senior
Addy Crenny and freshman
Olivia Roseman with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Arcadia falls to 7-10 with a 2-6 conference record, while the Pride improve to 11-6 with a 4-4 conference mark.
After the teams exchanging the first five baskets over the first 4:06, Widener used a 7-0 run to claim in under a minute to claim an 11-6 lead with just over half way through the first quarter. Roseman and fellow freshman
Sammy Downham led the Knights on a 7-4 run to end the quarter to pull the score to 15-13 after one.
The hosts controlled the second frame keyed by a 14-0 run that covered more than half the quarter. Widener opened a lead of as many as 16 at 34-18 when Brianna Wylie converted a free throw with 2:18 to until the half. Roseman beat the buzzer with a layup to send Arcadia to the break down 36-22.
The Knights battled back in the third quarter using short runs to chip away at the deficit pulling within six before quarter's end. A 7-1 quarter-opening capped by a Roseman three made the score 37-29 just over three minutes into the frame. A layup from Crenny with 1:35 to go in the period opened a 6-2 run that sent the game to the fourth with the scoreboard showing 50-42 in favor of the Pride.

Susan Bossler converted a layup before depositing a three that trimmed the Pride's lead to 53-50. An 11-1 run for Widener over the next 4:16 sealed the win for the Pride.
Converting 43.4% of its field goal attempts, Arcadia outshot the hosts who shot 38.1% from the field. The difference came in the foul department as the Knights were called for 28 compared to 14 for Widener leading to a 28-10 difference in free throw attempts.
