WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 MAC Commonwealth match at Lycoming College Tuesday night, snapping the Knights' four-match winning streak. The Warriors improved to 13-13 overall and 3-3 in conference play, while Arcadia fell to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in conference matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Lycoming used an early seven points run to go ahead 9-2 in the first set, and a four-point swing put it up 20-10 on its way to a 26-16 win. Both teams struggled on offense, with the Warriors totaling nine kills and eight attack errors and the Knights scoring just seven kills with 10 attack errors. Both teams hit at a much higher rate in the sets that followed, which the Warriors won by narrow margins of 25-22 and 25-23.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Sophomore
Lizzie Joseph high 44 percent with 12 kills and two errors on 23 attempts to lead the Knights. Classmate
Becca Campf hit 67 percent after registering six kills on nine attempts, while freshman
Shannon Ryan also totaled six kills to go with four blocks. Junior
Colleen Stengel notched 24 assists and seven digs, while freshman
Emily Eng led Arcadia with 11 digs.
LYCOMING LEADERS: Kristine Jahn hit 39 percent with 13 kills and four errors on 23 swings to lead the Warriors, while Cheyenne Altland totaled nine kills and three aces. Catherine Burger totaled 23 assists and five digs, while Emily Hepner totaled a match-high 17 digs.
NSIDE THE NUMBERS: Lycoming outscored Arcadia 55-43 in the match while hitting 24-percent. The Warriors had a 42-34 advantage ni kills and an 11-2 advantage in aces, while the Knights held a 5-2 edge in blocks. Arcadia hit just .18-percent in the match overall, but saw its hitting numbers improve all three sets. .
