GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team notched its third straight victory Tuesday night with a 77-66 win over Scranton at Alumni Gymnasium. The win moved the Knights to 4-4 on the season, while the Royals fell to 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Neither team was able to take control over the first 20 minutes of play as the largest lead of the first half was just four. Chris McCullough gave the visitors a four-point lead after scoring five straight points, including a three with 7:47 in for a 12-8 advantage. After senior

Brandon Thompson converted a pair of free throws with 10:34 to go until half time to put the Knights ahead 13-12. A three from Mitch Cross with 11 ticks left until the break gave the Royals a 37-33 lead at the half. While the Knights went 6-12 from distance, converting 9-10 free throws over the first 20 minutes of play was key in Arcadia's success.
Kelley went off in the second half, shooting 6-7 from the floor, including 2-2 from distance, as he dropped 16 over the final 20 minutes of action. A steal turned fast break points from sophomore
Jordan Sanders proved to be the turning point, however as the play in the early goings of a 17-7 run put the Knights in front for good. The lead would improve to seven following an and-one from Kelley with 9:30 left. The Knights shot 63.6% (7-11) from the field during the spurt and forced the Royals in to seven turnovers. Arcadia closed the game on an 11-5 run over the final 4:18.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Kelley netted a game-high 25 points on 9-13 (69.2%) shooting from the field, including 5-8 (62.5%) from three-point land; he also pulled in six rebounds. Scott led all players in both rebounds and assists with seven each, while scoring 12 points highlighted by 6-7 shooting at the free throw line. Thompson added 15 points with sophomore

SCRANTON LEADERS: The Royals were led by Kevin Doolan's 20 points on 8-16 shooting. Cross added 13 while John Vitkus contributed 15. Vitkus led the team with six rebounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: After shooting 59.3% (16-27) in the second half, Arcadia finished the game at 51% (25-49) from the field, including 42.1% (8-19) from three, while converting 19-22 (86.4%) free throws. The Royals shot 44.1% (26-59) from the field and 9-28 (32.1%) from distance while converting 5-8 free throws. The Knights were able to take advantage of Scranton's 21 turnovers by scoring 23 points, compared to the Royals' 13 points off 18 Arcadia turnovers. The lead changed 12 times in the contest and the score was tied seven times.
