SCRANTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis opened its spring season in winning fashion, dropping Marywood 7-2 Sunday afternoon. The Knights are now 2-3 on the year, including the fall season, while Marywood sits at 0-3.
Freshmen
Ishan Kulkarni and
Jaime Zeng took a 9-7 decision at second doubles, with seniors
Alex Colton and
Chuck Poklikuha picking up an 8-1 win at third doubles. Arcadia led 2-1 following doubles play.
Kulkarni went on to take a hard fought 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 match at number one singles over Alex Bird. Senior Vince Voulo took a 6-2, 6-4 win over Dan Tintle at third singles.
The Scarlet and Grey picked up wins in fourth through sixth singles Courtsey of junior
Wesley Wei at number four singles, Poklikuha at fifth singles and senior
Darren Stochmal at sixth singles.
The Knights will next be on the court on March 6, when they take on both Baldwin Wallace and Hampden-Sydney in Hilton Head, S.C.
