ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team suffered a 15-8 setback at MAC Commonwealth rival Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen moved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while the Knights fell to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Lebanon Valley opened the first half with a 7-0 lead, pointed by three goals from Sam Boyce. The Knights got on board at the 18:17 mark with a goal from sophomore Marie Brockman, followed by another score from sophomore Allegra Benites. After the Dutchmen made the score 8-2, Arcadia scored three straight, starting with a goal from senior Dawn Faranetta and concluding with two goals 49 seconds apart from Benites to pull the Knights within 8-5. Lebanon Valley's Alyse Bingham and Arcadia senior Adeline Belleshiem would each score to close out the first half for a 9-6 halftime advantage for the Dutchmen.
The second half opened with junior Erin Misner finding the back of the net to pull the score within two. However, Lebanon Valley would score three straight, with two goals coming from Tori Kuntz, to go up 12-5. The Knights final goal came off a feed from senior Adeline Bellesheim to classmate Jessica Santoli to make the deficit 12-8, but the Dutchmen scored three straight to cap off the 15-8 win.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Benites led the team three goals off four shots, while Brockman had one goal, two caused turnovers, and three ground balls. Misner had one goal, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers, while Faranetta had one goal, one assist, two ground balls and one caused turnover. Bellesheim, and Santoli each found the net once.
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Kuntz and Boyce each had four goals on the day; Kuntz also picked up two draw controls. Emily Moatz had two goals, three cause turnovers, and two draw controls, while Bingham had two goals, two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
IN GOAL: Lebanon Valley's Shelby Morris moved to 8-4 after making five saves and allowing eight goals in 60 minutes of work. Arcadia senior Jordyn Dunacusky fell to 4-7, making seven saves and allowing 15 goals.
