BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 non-conference victory at Bryn Athyn College Friday. The Knights have now won three in a row and four of their last five, improving their record to 4-12 for the season. The Lions fell to 1-8.
Arcadia yielded just one point through doubles play as it built a 3-0 lead in the match. Juniors
Allyson Naiken and
Megan Obarowski defeated Nicole Rogan and Sydney Elder 8-0 and No. 1, while freshmen
Zoe Foglia and
Nicole Shulman downed Catherine Kirk and Kelsey Kowalick 8-0 at No. 2. Junior
Amy MacNeill and freshman
Maggie Karolkiewicz rounded out doubles play with an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Natalie Monague and Gracelyn Bullard.
The Knights went on to take five of the six singles matches to close out the win. Naiken was an 8-0 winner at No. 2, while Foglia and Obarowski were 8-1 winners at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively. MacNeill was an 8-2 victor at No. 4, and Shulman was an 8-2 winner at No. 6.
Arcadia will be back in action Saturday, hosting a MAC Commonwealth match against Messiah College. The contest will get underway at noon at Weiss Courts.
