FREDRICK, Md. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 win over Hood College. With the win, Arcadia moved to 10-10 on the year and 5-2 in conference play, Hood fell to 2-15 and 0-7 in conference play. The Knights travel to Stevenson on Wednesday for the semifinals of the MAC Commonwealth Championship, match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Scarlet and Grey opened with a sweep of doubles play led by junior
Wesley Wei and freshman
Ishan Kulkarni taking an 8-2 decision at first doubles. Senior
Vincent Voulo and freshman
John Zinzer took second doubles 8-6, while senior
Alex Colton and junior
Chuck Poklikuha won 8-3 at third doubles.
In singles competition, Kulkarni took a 6-0, 7-5 win at first singles and Colton won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles. Voulo won a tie break 7-4 tiebreaker to win third singles 6-1, 7-6, while Wei took a 6-0, 6-2 win a fourth singles. Poklikuha and classmate
Darren Stochmal cruised to 6-0, 6-0 decisions at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Wei and Stochmal now have a single-season program record 17 singles wins this season, Poklikuha's doubles win today was his single-season program best 18th.
