RADNOR, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team extended its season-opening winning streak to seven games Wednesday evening by defeating Cabrini 4-2. The win was sparked by a three-goal first half, with two coming off the foot of junior
Tara Smith.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshman
Karlie Flowers started the scoring in the 28th minute when she finished a cross from classmate
Veronica Garcia for her first career goal. Just over two minutes later, Smith found twine for the first time after running through a defender and chipping a shot over the Cavalier goalkeeper. The hosts got on the board just after the 34th minute, however Smith responded with her second of the day on a through ball from freshman
Alex Estrella late in the 37th minute. Each team went on to score once in the second half.
FIRE AWAY: The Arcadia offense was not afraid to shoot the ball, as it outshot the Cavaliers 25-5 on the day, including a 13-3 margin in shots on goal.
IN GOAL: Freshman
Taelor Rivera picked up her sixth win of the season while making one save. Gabby LeGendre took the loss while making eight saves.
UP NEXT: The Knights return home Saturday to host No. 14/25 Misericordia at 2:30 p.m.
