Women’s Volleyball Blanks Hartwick, Falls to Stockton at Stevens Ducks Classic

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of competition at the Stevens Ducks Classic, recording a 3-0 win over Hartwick College after dropping a 3-0 decision to Stockton University. The Knights are now 4-5 for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The first game went back and forth until a four-point run capped by a kill from sophomore Becca Campf for the Knights have them a 17-12 cushion. The two teams traded points from there as Arcadia put the game away, 25-21. Arcadia got out to quick double-digit leads in the second and third games as they cruised to 25-15 and 25-13 wins to sweep the match.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Campf and fellow sophomore middle hitter Katie Wilson totaled seven kills each while hitting 60 percent and 54 percent, respectively, to lead a balanced attack for the Knights. . Sophomore's Sam Dulak and Lizzie Joseph, and freshman Shannon Ryan led Arcadia with eight kills each. Junior Colleen Stengel had a match-high 34 assists, while freshman Emily Eng had a match-high 13 digs.
 
HARTWICK LEADERS: Hannah Armstrong and Rosa Maun had seven kills each to lead the Hawks offense, while Alyssa Zeitler had a team-best 11 digs.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outscored Hartwick 53-24 in the match while hitting 29 percent as a team. The Hawks hit just nine-percent.
 
Stockton 3, Arcadia 0 (16-25, 19-25, 16-25)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Arcadia led early in the first game but was unable to hang on. The Knights trailed 12-11 following a kill for Stengel but it was all Stockton from there as the Ospreys outscored the Scarlet and Grey 13-5 the rest of the way to go up 1-0 in the match. Arcadia rallied from an 8-1 deficit in the second game to get back within two, cutting its deficit to 15-13 on senior MaKenna Micklus' kill before Stockton gradually pulled away for the 25-19 final. The two teams traded scoring runs throughout the third game, which saw Stockton close it out by scoring five of the final seven points to complete the sweep.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Joseph totaled nine kills and five digs to lead the Knights, while Micklus, Campf and Ryan chipped in with four kills each. Stengel finished with 17 kills, while sophomore Kayla Resh led the team with eight digs.
 
STOCKTON LEADERS: Stephanie Kovacs hit .500 in the match with a match-high 15 kills and two errors on 26 attempts. While Idi Uffen hit 44-percent with 11 kills and four errors on 16 swings. Lindsay Schuele hit 54-percent with seven kills on 13 swings. Jessica Ciandella handed out a match-high 27 assists, while Rebecka Zabilowicz notched a match-high 28 digs.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: In total, Stockton outscored Arcadia 55-37 while hitting an impressive 42 percent in the match. The Knights hit just 16 percent.
