GLENSIDE, Pa. – After allowing two goals in the opening 17 minutes, the Arcadia University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 non-conference match to visiting University of Scranton Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Royals improved to 3-2 with the win, while the Knights fell to 0-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Both goals came early in the match, with Elizabeth Tolley getting Scranton on the board 3:07 into the contest with a shot from the top of the circle, a feat she duplicated 16:10 into the match for the 2-0 final. Elizabeth Yorey set up the first goal, while Meredith Campbell set up the second. Arcadia had a number of quality scoring opportunities but was unable to find the back of the cage. Senior
Allie Hines had the best chance to get the Knights one the board after being awarded a penalty stroke, but her attempt to place the ball inside the top-left corner went just high of the crossbar.
IN GOAL: Tate Ackerman stopped each of the six shots on goal she faced to improve her record to 2-1 for Scranton. Senior
Brittany Hodson took the loss after allowing two goals with one save in the first half before being relieved by freshman
Anne Becker, who had three saves in her 53:50 in the cage.
