GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior
Maureen Fiocca joined the 1,000 point club with a last minute layup in the second quarter, however the Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to Lebanon Valley 74-68 in MAC Commonwealth play Wednesday night at Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights now sit at 6-9 on the season with a 2-4 conference mark, while the Dutchmen now hold a 7-9 overall record with a 4-3 MAC Commonwealth mark.
MAKING HISTORY: Fiocca became the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000 point milestone. She currently sits in third place on the all-time scoring list with 1,010 career points. Aside from scoring, she moved into the top-10 in career assists with 130 and the top-five in career free throws made with 197.
HOW IT HAPPENED: After a Lebanon Valley layup four seconds into the game, senior
Imani Alston laid in a pair of buckets 12 seconds apart to put the Scarlet and Grey in front 4-2 37 seconds in. An exchange of short runs had the visitors in front 21-15 after the first quarter.
A pair of
Susan Bossler threes early in the second frame brought the Knights back within two, sparking a 16-8 Arcadia run to tie the game at 31 with 1:35 to go until the break. Hilary Yoh helped halt the run for the Dutchmen with a layup on the ensuing possession to regain a two-point margin. Fiocca's 1,000th point came on a layup with 58 seconds remaining in the quarter that tied the contest at 33. The visitors took a 36-33 lead to the break courtesy of 3-4 shooting from the free throw line to end the half.
The Dutchmen led by as many as eight in the third quarter, before opening a game-high 12 point lead over a 9-2 fourth quarter-opening run. The Knights instantly retaliated by slicing its deficit to four as Bossler netted threes to both open and close a 10-2 run for Arcadia. Using a 12-16 effort from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter alone, including 9-12 over the final 3:07, the Dutchmen were able to hold off the comeback from the Knights.

Imani Alston. The Philadelphia native also tied sophomore
Olivia Roseman with a game-high five assists. Bossler went 6-7 from beyond the arc en route to an 18-point effort, while Alston added 12 on 5-9 shooting.
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: The Dutchmen were led by Lexie Lantz's 21 points and game-high 15 rebounds. Yoh added 19 points while being joined in double-figures by Becky Evans (11) and Anne Lehr (10). Jasmine Copeland pulled in 11 rebounds while lead the way with three assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Knights shot 43.3% (26-60) from the field, including 6-14 (42.9%) from distance, while converting 10-14 (71.4%) from the free throw line. The Dutchmen shot 40.9% (27-66) from the floor, including just 3-17 (17.6%) from beyond the arc, while converting 17-25 (60%) at the charity stripe. With each team committing 13 turnovers, the Scarlet and Grey were able to put up 17 points compared the visitors 10; the Knights also held a 12-9 advantage on fast breaks. Outrebounding Arcadia 17-4 on the offensive glass paved the way for Lebanon Valley to outscore the Knights 21-6 on second chance opportunities.
