GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team registered a 145-5-116.5 Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet victory over visiting Widener University Saturday at Lenox Pool to remain undefeated in dual meets this season.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights are now 8-0 in dual meets this season, and will finish undefeated for the first time in program history with a win next week at Stevenson to close out the regular season. The Pride fell to 9-3.
BACKSTROKE: Arcadia swimmers recorded three of the top-four times in the 100, led by freshman
Eunice Ardamoy's winning time of 1:01.72. Junior
Rose Georgias (1:05.03) and sophomore
Rylee Cella (1:07.42) placed third and fourth, respectively. Georgias later placed second the Lauren Griffith (2:19.88) in the 200 with her time of 2:20.84, while D'Esposito placed third in 2:23.84.
BREASTSTROKE: The Knights swept the 100, with sophomore
Samantha Carpenter registering a first-place time of 1:08.78 followed by classmate
Taylor Byers (1:12.41) and freshman
Bailey Babarsky (1:13.72). Byers went on to win the 200 after touching the wall first in 2:36.47, while Babarsky again placed third in 2:44.34.
BUTTERFLY: Senior
Megan Obarowski placed second in the 200 with a time of 2:19.06, trailing only Widener's Liz O'Sullivan who touched first in 2:19.06, while fellow senior
Danielle Fundakowski scored a point with her fifth-place time of 2:26.91. Freshman
Kayla Drago was runner-up in the 100 with her time of 1:01.56, which was just half a second back of Jill Bujanowski's winning time of 1:01.06. Georgias scored a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:05.85.
DISTANCE: Freshman
Megan Hupp (10:49.42) and sophomore
Alyssa D'Esposito (11:14.25) recorded a one-two finish in the 1,000 freestyle to open the individual events for Arcadia; both times were under the previous pool record of 11.14.99. Hupp also recorded a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:16.81, once again breaking her own pool record, while freshman
Bekah Brown placed fourth in 5:33.43.
SPRINTS: Hupp was also victorious in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall first in 1:57.90 to break her own pool record, followed by freshman
Rachel Samson (2:02.22) in third and senior
Anna Sweeney (2:04.31) in fourth. Drago was the runner-up in the 50 (25.66) and 100 (55.56), finishing second to Christine Kunzler's times of 24.63 and 54.12 in each event. Sweeney placed fourth in the 100 in 58.50, while fellow senior
Lillie Curtis came in sixth in 59.56.
INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Obarowski won the 400 IM after clocking in at 4:55.00, edging out Samson's second-place time of 4:56.57. Byers placed fourth in 4:59.79.
RELAYS: Arcadia had two of the top-three finishing 200 medley relays to start the day's action. Ardamoy, Carpenter, Samson and Drago won with a time of 1:50.55, while Georgias, Babarsky, Obarowski and Curtis placed third in 1:59.12. The team of Byers, Ardamoy, Hupp and Samson were second in the 200 freestyle relay to close the day, clocking in at 1:43.35.
