Menns’ First Career Double-Double Powers Women’s Basketball’s Rout of Penn College

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team opened the home portion of its schedule in dominating fashion, besting Penn College 70-47 Friday night. Junior Camille Menns led the way for the Scarlet and Grey with her first career double-double.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights even their record at 1-1
  • The Wildcats fall to 1-1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Arcadia stormed out of the gate with the first 16 points of the night over the first five minutes, with buckets coming from all five starters. Menns and sophomore Courtney Hoffman each netted five points.
  • Leading 18-7 with just under two and half minutes to go in the opening quarter, the Knights began an 11-0 run fueled by seven points from sophomore Sydney Cyr.
  • The Knights took a 44-18 lead to halftime
  • With a 49-32 lead in the final two minutes of the third quarter, the Knights began a 17-2 run over the next 5:26 to take a game-best 32-point lead with 6:15 to go in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Menn's netted a team-best 16 points while hauling in a team-high 10 rebounds.
  • Cyr dropped 14 points on 4-6 shoot from the floor and 5-8 shooting from the free throw line. The Coopersburg, Pa. native near a double-double with eight rebounds, she also registered five steals.
  • Hoffman deposited 10 points on the offensive end and recorded five steals on the defensive end.
  • Freshman Taylor Fritz totaled nine points and nine rebounds.
  • As a team, the Wildcats committed 31 turnovers leading to 36 Arcadia points, while the Knights committed just 16 turnovers with which Penn College scored 10 points.
  • Arcadia dominated the glass, outrebounding the opposition 43-34.
NOTES:
  • Not only was this Menns' first career double-double, the junior also posted a career high in points.
  • The win is Arcadia's third-straight win over the Wildcats.

  • The Knights are back in action Tuesday night when they travel to Centenary. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
