GLENSIDE, Pa. – Despite a hard-fought effort, the Arcadia University men's basketball team couldn't complete the comeback Wednesday night against DeSales and fell 69-65. Junior
Phil Pierfy led all scorers with 18 points, going 6-10 from the floor.
FOR THE RECORD:
- Arcadia fell to 3-3 to even its record on the year.
- The Bulldogs moved to 5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights had an impressive first half, outscoring the Bulldogs 31-22. Senior Brandon Thompson started hot, scoring 11 of the Knights first 12 points. Arcadia took an 11-0 run early in the half to jump out to an 18-7 lead.
- In the second half, DeSales chiseled away at the Knights lead, going on a 9-0 run in the middle of the half to pull out in front. DeSales would lead by as many as 12 points, before the Knights started their comeback.
- Over the span of four minutes, Arcadia strung together a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to three. After trading points into the final two minutes of the game, the Knights took a 6-2 run to chip away at the lead and tie the game at 65. DeSales made a basket to go up by two with 16 seconds left.
- The Knights had possession and took a shot, but a block by the Bulldogs would force the final change of possession, allowing the Bulldogs to run out the clock.

The Knights will hit the road on Saturday to open conference play against the Albright Lions. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
