READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team struggled to find its offensive rhythm as it dropped a 3-0 decision at Alvernia University Tuesday night.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights fell to 5-6 with their fourth loss in five matches, while the Crusaders improved to 6-2 with their third straight win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Alvernia got off to a fast start in the opening game, starting off with an 8-1 run as it took the opener 25-19. The second set saw the Knights holding a 15-13 lead before the Crusaders used another 8-1 surge to go up 21-16 on their way to a 25-20 win in the set and a 2-0 lead in the match. A pair of early scoring runs put Alvernia up 17-8 as it took the final game 25-16.
ARCADIA LEADERS: The Knights were led by freshman
Bryce Galloway, who hit .500 with nine kills and two errors on 14 swings to go with a pair of blocks. Classmate
Edwin Waters Jr. added five kills and three blocks, while senior
Sean Cohen notched 22 assists.
ALVERNIA LEADER: Ralph Lunati totaled a match-high 13 kills while hitting .350 for the Crusaders, while Collin Welteroth hit .563 with 12 kills, four aces and six digs. Dalton Hartman had a match-high 37 assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Crusaders hit .328 as a team while outscoring the Knights 47-30. Arcadia hit .175 for the match.
