Men’s Basketball Falls at Lebanon Valley 81-75

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team fell 81-75 at Lebanon Valley Wednesday night. The Knights dropped to 9-13 on the season and 4-9 in conference play, while the Dutchmen improved to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Trailing by two just shy of the midway point of the opening half, sophomore Phil Pierfy converted a jumper to knot the game at 12, classmate Brandon Thompson went on to cap what turned out to be a six point run with a three with 8:48 left in the first half to put the Scarlet and Grey in front 16-12. The hosts immediately responded, scoring 16 of the next 20 points over a span of 5:10, before taking a 38-33 to the half.
 
Less than five minutes into the second stanza, Arcadia found itself with a one point lead as Pierfy and classmate Evan Slone went to work in the paint netting eight straight points. A successful and-one from sophomore Kyle Reilly had the Knights ahead 49-47 with 12:12 left on the clock, before the Dutchmen ripped off a 17-4 run over the next 4:06 to take an 11-point lead with just over eight minutes remaining.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Pierfy led all scorers with 24 points on 9-15 (60%) shooting from the field, while matching Reilly for a team-high seven rebounds. Thompson went 5-8 (62.5%) from the floor and 9-13 (69.2%) from the free throw line en route to 21 points.
 
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Andy Orr led the way for the Dutchmen with 20 points and a game-best 13 rebounds. Sam Light added 17 points, while Travis Conrad and Caleb Barwin each contributed 11.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia went 23-58 from the field, including 7-14 from beyond the arc, while converting 22-33 at the free throw line. Lebanon Valley went 29-53 from the floor, including 9-16 from distance, while converting 14-28 free throws.
