SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior
Nicole Hutson scored a game-high five goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team to a 9-5 victory at Marywood University on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights improved to 3-1 for the season with the win, while evening their road record at 1-1. The host Pacers fell to 2-1 with their first loss of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Arcadia never trailed in this one, and took the lead for good when Hutson started a three-goal run that put the Knights in front 5-2 midway through the first half. Hutson scored the first two goals of that run, while junior

Shannon Ryan with 11:04 left in the period.
Ashley Valway and Gwyneth Gleason brought Marywood back within one by halftime, but that was as close as the Pacers would get as Arcadia outscored Marywood 4-1 in the second half for the 9-5 final. Hutson opened the second half scoring with what would be the game-winner six minutes in and added another tally with 12:28 remaining to put the Knights up 7-4.
IN GOAL: Junior
Liz Stierle improved to 3-1 in goal after stopping eight shots for Arcadia. Lauren Smith fell to 2-1 for the Pacers after recording a game-high nine saves.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Hutson totaled five goals on eight shots in the game, and was 1 for 2 on her free position attempts. Ryan had one goal with game-high totals of four assists and five draw controls, while Brockman finished with one goal, one assist and four draw controls. Senior

MARYWOOD LEADERS: Valway's two goals were the only multi-goal performance for the Pacers, while Gleason had a goal and two assists for a team-best three points. Sam Bussinelli and Erin Healy also scored for Marywood, while Moly Yelencsics led the team defensively with six groundballs and two caused turnovers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outshot Marywood 28-15 and held a 13-3 advantage on draw controls. The Knights were 2 for 9 on free position attempts, while not allowing a single free position attempt for the Pacers.
