GLENSIDE, Pa. – In a tightly contested game, the Arcadia men's basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon game to no. 12 Lycoming, 79-75. The Knights had three players score in double figures, with freshman
Da'Kquan Davis leading the pack with 17.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Knights drop to 8-8 on the season, holding a 3-4 record in the conference.
- Lycoming advanced to 16-1, with a 6-1 record in the MAC Commonwealth.
HOW IT HAPPENEND:
- After the Warriors battled out to a 12-7 over the first 7:24 of the game, the Knights responded with a 17-5 run of their own over the following 6:18 to give Arcadia a seven-point lead with 6:18 left in the first half. Four different Knights scored on the run, including eight points from senior Brandon Thompson.
- The remainder of the half was neck-and-neck with Lycoming chipping away at the lead. Arcadia would ultimately take a two-point lead into the half, 37-35.
- The Warriors rallied out of the break, taking a 23-9 run over the first 8:58 of the final frame. Despite the run, the Scarlet and Grey mustered a 24-15 run to cut the Lycoming lead to just three, 73-70, with 1:17 left in regulation. Over the Knights' run, Davis dropped nine and junior Phil Pierfy added eight.
- With another 50 seconds shaved off the clock, and Arcadia taking a short 5-3 slide, the Knights were within one point with 27 ticks left on the clock. Ultimately, the Warriors would make three-straight free throws to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Joining Davis in double figures were Pierfy (16) and Thompson (14).
- On the glass, Davis had a game-high eight boards, just one ahead of juniors Josh Scott, Evan Slone, and Pierfy who all corralled seven.
- The Knights shot a respectable 40.3% on 25-of-62 from the floor.
- Arcadia forced 18 turnovers, capitalizing with 25 points as opposed to Lycoming's 17 points on 16 turnovers.
GAME NOTES:
- Davis has now scored double digits in five straight games and nine of 14 games this season.
