Davis Drops 17 Points, But Men’s Basketball Losses to Alvernia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman Da'Kquan Davis scored 17 points Wednesday night as the Arcadia men's basketball team fell to conference foe Alvernia, 72-68.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights dropped to 6-7 on the season and 1-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
  • The Golden Wolves advanced to 4-8 on the campaign and 1-4 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first quarter was back-and-forth until the Knights sprung a 17-6 run that lasted the final 7:01 of the frame. During that span, five different players scored points, including six from Davis and junior Phil Pierfy. Defensively, Arcadia held the Golden Wolves to 20% shooting on 2-of-10 from the floor, forcing two turnovers. The Scarlet & Grey ended the period up, 45-31.
  • After Alvernia chipped the lead down to 10 points early in the second stanza, the Knights took off on an 11-5 run lasting 4:33 to extend the lead to 14 with 12:36 remaining in regulation. Junior Josh Scott dropped six points for the Knights with junior Evan Slone adding four. The run wouldn't be enough to hold off Alvernia, which took the game, 72-68.
