Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Knights Clip Eagles, 3-0

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Arcadia's field hockey team wrapped up regular season play for the 2018 season with a 3-0 win at Eastern on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights improved to 13-5 on the season, while Eastern fell to 6-12. The 13 wins moved the Scarlet & Grey to within two of the program's single-season record, accomplished in 2012 and 2014.

Lindsey Bechtold gave AU all the offense it would need in the fifth minute, taking a pass from Gabby Sedares and beating Marley Redfield for an early 1-0 lead. Mickie March made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when she collected a rebound off a Sydney Cyr shot, settled the ball and beat Redfield again for her third goal of the season.

The Knights' third goal of the game came courtesy of Carly Flickinger, who like March, got on the end of a rebound and stuffed a shot past Redfield for a 3-0 lead at the 56:56 mark.

The Eagles only got two shots on frame the remainder of the contest and each was turned aside by Ashton Evans as AU picked up its ninth shutout of the season.

IN GOAL: Evans played all 70:00 for the Knights and improved to 10-3 on the year. She made two saves on the day. Redfield came up with five saves for the Eagles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Knights outshot Eastern 15-10, including 9-3 on goal, and earned 14 penalty corners to just four for the Eagles … Sydney Cyr made her ninth defensive save of the year, the second-highest total in a single season for AU … Cyr is also responsible for all nine defensive saves recorded by Arcadia this season … With an assist on Bechtold's goal, Sedares notched her 28th point of the season, one off last season's total of 29, and she snapped a three-game scoring drought … Flickinger's goal was her eighth of the year, and she ranks second on the team in goals and points (19).

UP NEXT: The Knights have earned the MAC Commonwealth's No. 3 seed and will travel to Alvernia on Wednesday to play in the conference semifinals beginning at 7 p.m. The Golden Wolves edged the Knights for the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage with a 1-0 win earlier this week.
